ITG Futures offers low day-trading margins to accommodate traders that require high leverage to trade their accounts. Intraday margin, or day trading margins, are determined by our clearing firms at their discretion. It is based upon many factors including market volatility, open interest, customer credit profile and the level of funding in the specific customer's account.

We typically require $3,000 to open an account. However, account size can vary and depends on what your objectives are and what markets you plan to trade – some require more capital than others to give you more opportunities and options. You should discuss your trading objectives with a licensed broker who will then be able to provide you with more information about minimum requirements.

The trading commissions we charge depend on several factors, including the markets you trade, the platform you wish to trade on, and the volume you trade.  Your commissions could be as little as $0.10 per side, based on your average daily volume. The typical commissions for day trading will be in the $0.50 - $1.50 range.

NOTE: Commission quotes on our site are for day-trading futures contracts. If you carry open positions overnight, buying or selling options and strategies, and trading spreads, you will be subject to different commissions. Yes, sub-accounts may be established at all our FCMs.

If you wish to open the same type of account under the same name, you are required to fill out an Additional Account Request Form. If you wish to open different types of accounts (e.g. Individual and Joint account), you are required to fill out a new application for each account.

All applicants must provide basic identifying information such as name, date of birth, permanent address and, if applicable, valid Social Security or tax ID number. Applicants are also required to provide details of their financial condition and investment experiences, such as annual income, total and liquid net worth, a source of net worth and funds, and years of trading experience in each asset class.

For international clients, a valid passport and address verification dated within the last 60 days are required. Acceptable forms of address verification include utility bills or bank statements.

Depending on the account type and information provided the FCM may request additional information or documents to be provided.

We can open most accounts within 24 hours on business days once we receive all account documents. After your application is approved, the account will be opened shortly after depositing funds.

Account balances are held in segregated funds at the bank of the clearing firm at which you opened your account.

Customer funds with a Futures Clearing Merchant are held in segregation under Commodity Futures Trading Commission rule 1.25 (“CFTC 1.25”). All our clearing firms fully comply with this key customer protection rule and furthermore exercise prudence when investing customer balances. This segregation provides sufficient safety to an investor, but there is no level of regulation or other safeguards that can 100% protect an investor in the case of fraud or other inappropriate activity. Every individual futures broker, Introducing Broker firm and Futures Clearing Merchant (i.e. clearing firm) is a member of the National Futures Association. As such, it is simple to check with the NFA to verify that any of these people or entities are properly registered and have an active status – in other words, are permitted to conduct business with the public. All our clearing firms are registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (“CFTC”) and a member of the National Futures Association (“NFA”) as a Futures Clearing Merchant (“FCM”).

A Futures Clearing Merchant is an organization that solicits or accepts orders to buy or sell futures or options contracts and accepts money or other assets from customers in connection with such orders. FCM’s work with the exchanges to handle confirmation, delivery, and settlement of transactions. In addition, they hold customer funds and supply statements to clients. Most FCM's act as exchange liaisons for Introducing Brokers and rely on them to communicate with clients.

Provided that sufficient funds are left on deposit to satisfy any current margin requirements, the remaining excess funds are available for withdrawal. Of course, we recommend leaving a prudent “cushion” to help protect an account from a margin call which could result from negative market movement versus open positions. However, if there are no open positions then a client is free to withdraw 100% of their funds at any time.

To request funds from your account, please contact your ITG Futures Broker. Please note the following fees for withdrawals:

Daily and monthly statements are generally sent via e-mail. You will also receive login information for the online portal at your clearing FCM after you open and fund the account. If you prefer, we can also send you paper statements by regular mail for a fee.

If the Equity to Margin ratio (NLV/Initial Margin) in your account drops below 5% or $500.00, whichever comes first, ITG Futures reserves the right to liquidate open positions. In the event that the positions in your account are required to be liquidated by your broker due to inaction on your part, ITG Futures will charge a $50 per contract liquidation fee. You are responsible for monitoring your positions and are financially responsible for any losses generated by open positions.
